The AEoD Virtual Machine service is designed to:

Meet the demand for virtual machines (VMs) from researchers spanning the academic domains of the university, from demography to art history, from public policy to physical chemistry, from sociology to business and law, in addition to the physical and experimental sciences.

Provide a solution for interactive computing, with easy access to additional software modules, libraries and visualization tools
- Integrate well and support local IT staff

Allow researchers to write results and files to local storage

Be suitable for use with sensitive data up to and including Data Protection Level 3 (link is external) data
Sizes, Storage and Support:

The AEoD service allows for the provision of VMs from 2-16 cores with 8-128GBs of RAM. Larger sized VMs may be considered.
- 2 cores, 8 or 16GB RAM
- 8 cores, 64GB RAM
- 16 cores, 128GB RAM
- A minimum allocation of 500GB of Berkeley IT Performance tier storage, per partner organization, comes included.
- Option to purchase additional storage through BerkeleyIT with "Performance" or "Utility" tier features.
- User support from local IT and AEoD technical partners from other departments is also included.
Cost
- A minimum allocation, including the VM and storage, is provided to organizations at no cost. Additional resources are available at prices determined by our service partners in Berkeley IT.
