Research IT Associate Director Patrick Schmitz and Berkeley Prosopography Services co-director, Laurie Pearce (Near Eastern Studies), have been awarded a Resarch Seminar Grant by the Social Science Matrix. Building on last semester’s prospecting seminars, this series will continue to explore issues related to digital prosopography (historical social network analysis) more deeply. The seminars bring together participants from a variety of institutions from on and off campus, such as the Center for the Tebtunis Papyri at the Bancroft Library and the Perseids Project at Tufts University. Questions raised in these seminars will guide the ongoing development of BPS, which is currently undergoing development work to extend its features and generalize its functionality for use with a variety of corpora with the support of a Digital Humanities Implementation Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
