Are you ready for the *new* NIH data management and sharing policy?

November 22, 2022

Beginning January 25 2023, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is implementing a data management and sharing policy that expands upon existing NIH requirements for data sharing. A recent blog post by the UC Berkeley Library Data Services Program provides more information about the specifics of the policy and includes resources to assist in completing the required plans.

Additionally, the Library Data Services Program and the Research Data Management Program are offering workshops via Zoom for researchers (e.g., faculty, research staff, students) that cover an overview of the policy and provide guidance on completing the required data management and sharing plans. The next one will be held in December:

If you can’t make a training, take a look at this list of FAQs plus a recording of the September workshop which is now posted on Research IT’s YouTube channel. If you have questions about this new requirement and/or want assistance completing a data management and sharing plan, please reach out to researchdata@berkeley.edu
