Are your MATLAB analyses outpacing your laptop? Scale up your computation with Berkeley Research Computing’s Savio high-performance computing cluster, and the MATLAB distributed computing server toolkit! Mathworks and BRC staff will be holding a one-day workshop on parallel computing with MATLAB and scaling to the Savio cluster, on August 15th from 9 AM - 12 PM. (Please note the updated date/time.)

To participate, attendees will need an account on the Savio cluster. Accounts are available at no cost to all faculty, and to staff, postdocs, and students working with a faculty member on a research project. If you don’t already have an account, please review the Faculty Computing Allowance (FCA) materials and submit the FCA application form as soon as possible, or email brc@berkeley.edu if you’d like help applying for an FCA. To RSVP for the workshop, please fill out this form.

Schedule:
5-minute introduction by Berkeley Research Computing staff
20-minute overview of parallel computing with MATLAB
90-minute hands-on, self-paced workshop for building parallel MATLAB applications
30-minute Q&A session of workshop
45-minute hands-on session of submitting job to Savio Cluster

Highlights:
Reduce cycle time for your workflow & solve computationally and data-intensive problems faster
Built-in support for parallel computing
Creating parallel applications to speed up independent tasks
Scaling up to computer clusters, grid environments or clouds
Employing GPUs to speed up your computations
Programming with tall and distributed arrays to work with large data sets
